Finally got it!
Currently caught lots of bugs and fish, paid off my house deposit and first chunky loan. I'm waiting for the Island to unlock, and I've used my mayoral powers to conduct one public request. I built a yellow bench just on the part of my town that looks over the sea. All very nice!
It's raining currently in Gotham, which means easy bugs. My native fruit is oranges and there seems to be an abundant number of bluegills in my river.
Hoping to be able to get access to the Island tomorrow, and upload some screenshots.
